Deciding to become foster carers is the best decision we ever made. It does have its challenges, but we know we have support.

Foster parents

Fostering support

Once approved, all foster carers have access to one of the most comprehensive support networks in the UK, there to offer help and advice when it is needed most.

You will  have a mentor, who is an experienced foster carer who will also support and guide you through your first year, as well as access to our East and West Cornwall teams of dedicated social workers.

Our Central Support Team, comprised of health specialists, youth workers and educational psychology professionals,  operates an out of hours service 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. This means that there is always a member of the Fostering Team for you to talk to, and that we can get help to you at any time should it be needed.

We run a continuous training programme throughout the year. Some of the training is mandatory and some of it is not. The training ranges from core skills that are needed to be a foster carer to more specialist training which carers may benefit from in order to meet the needs of a specific child in their care.

There are also regular support groups run by – and for – foster carers.
